While the entry to this 1920’s ranch was covered, we learned that the wooden stairs and support beams used to hold up the porch were meant to be a temporary solution. They were constructed after the original concrete stairs (that were in crumbled disrepair) had been removed. While completely functional, this entryway lacked ascetics, outdoor living space and covered storage space.
Today, this porch has room for plenty of comfortable seating alongside covered firewood storage and additional covered storage underneath. Added benefits are that the house is cooler because the front rooms of the house are now shaded by the extended roof of the porch. The next job: incorporating the landscaping that that was drawn into the plan!
