This family room has transformed from a dark country bungalow into a bright, warm and airy gathering area. The entire room was gutted and redesigned to better utilize and maximize space. Walls to the original porch that previously closed and interrupted the room flow were removed. By vaulting the ceiling and raising it to 9’ 6” allowed for the addition of a ceiling fan as well as recessed lighting.
Additional improvements included adjusting window placements and bringing the basement stairs up to code. With future planning in mind, this design will lend itself to a future kitchen update which includes the addition of a large opening and peninsula that will provide additional seating and provide a way to combine and maximize the two entertaining areas.
